The Central Hospital of Huzhou

Huzhou Central Hospital, also known as the Northern Zhejiang Medical Center or Huzhou Zhebei Medical Centre, is a major tertiary general hospital in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.

Established in 1944, the hospital combines medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, disease prevention, health management, emergency services, and rehabilitation. It provides healthcare to residents of Huzhou as well as patients from nearby parts of Zhejiang, Anhui, and Jiangsu.

The new hospital campus was completed in 2020 and covers approximately 242,000 square metres. It has 1,500 inpatient beds and is designed to manage up to 6,000 outpatient visits per day.

Its campus includes separate inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, treatment, administrative, education, and support areas. The hospital’s principal clinical fields include hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, digestive medicine, haematology, respiratory medicine, emergency treatment, and intensive care.

An automated waste and soiled-linen collection network operates around the clock. It uses separate pipe systems to handle approximately three tonnes of general waste and nine tonnes of soiled linen daily. This reduces manual transportation, elevator congestion, secondary contamination, and potential cross-infection.

The hospital also operates intensive-care facilities and provides teaching and training support for several universities and medical institutions.
